After being steamed for approximately 20 minutes the ribs for the Greenland kayaks are bent extremely around a jig to make them flexible. After both sides are bent they are placed in the gunwales. The ribs are weighted down to keep them in shape until they have cooled. The very first and last ribs are not bent due the extreme curve that would need. They are simply made up two strips of rib that meet in the middle. After a while of steaming we can see the hull coming to shape.
