ImageLate afternoon on september first, after a 9 hours drive, we arrive at the  Havkajak centre Svendborg to visit the annual Danish Qajaq Træf held on 2, 3 and 4 september 2005. This seakajak centre is beautifully located on the south coast of the small island of Tåsinge (just below Fyn or Funen) . We are welcomed by Lenze Middelberg who runs this seakayak centre.

We pitch our tent on the edge of the pasture and have only a small row of trees between us and the see. On the friday our hosts for the Træf are joining us on the Havkajak centre's campground.

On the saturday and sunday the qajaq træf has a very loose program. We paddle a bit on both days, as the area has some very beautiful islands. The saturday afternoon had a couple of "lectures", about building in bulkheads and about tightening & stitching the (cotton) skin around a  frame (Odense kajakklub).

Both Dick and myself enjoyed the weekend very much and learned a couple of new rolls (appr. 5) after some instructions from Freya Hoffmeister.

On the sunday shortly before everybody is leaving again all the qajaq's are nicely displayed for a groupphoto and for the most remarkable qajaq election. Dick wins the price in the category "non greenlandic" with his Baidarka, a nice bottle of wine.

Unfortunately there are not that many pictures available of on the water activities as my digital camera is not waterproof, but the pictures below still give a nice impression of the Træf.
